Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Bristol, UK
Bradman Lake Group is a well-established engineering company that has built high speed and complex packaging equipment for 70 plus years with an annual turnover on £35 million per year.
We require a skilled (must be time served/have an apprenticeship) Electrical Design Engineer for our assembly facility.
This is a permanent positions based on a 37 hour basic week M-F and overtime generally available.
Purpose of Role:
Develop equipment concepts and schemes that and can be constructed and commissioned safely and effectively. Produce general arrangements, material schedules, detail drawings, panel layouts, PLC, and HMI code that are clear, accurate, cost effective, and meet the requirements of the specification.

Reporting to: Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Key Responsibilities/Activities:
- Produce technical information, drawings, and associated schedules and documents, taking due account of H&S requirements, designs, specifications, and standards relating to the contract
- PLC, Servo and HMI programming and test
- Testing and commissioning of the mechanical and/or electrical systems
- Deal with specifiers and/or suppliers/distributors
- Report problems and provide solutions, for deficiencies in the design brief
- Maintain competitiveness by ensuring drawings are produced within the durations indicated
- Ensure technical co-ordination with all other internal and external disciplines
- Ensure projects are delivered to timescale and budget
- Maintain drawing files and records throughout the duration of the contract
- Suggest solutions to problems based on an understanding of relevant technologies
- Visit customers and BLG Group companies on a worldwide basis, as required, to help achieve sales, support aftermarket, resolve problems, and test machines
- Ensure statutory and company procedures and practices are maintained
- Work with and support other departments to ensure business objectives are achieved

Background/Experience:
- Educated to BSc level or equivalent
- 2+ years in a similar engineering related position
- 5+ years in electrical design, preferably in the packaging machinery sector
- Proven experience of using AutoCAD Electrical
- Experienced with PLC based switchgear and control systems, using RSLogix and Siemens
- Strong bias towards the programming & test of servo motion and robotic handling systems
- Working knowledge of CE Marking legislation
- Understanding of continuous improvement techniques
- Current driving license and passport, prepared to travel
