Bradman Lake Scores a Caribbean Hat Trick

20/01/2012

In late September 2011 the Bradman Lake Group was successful in securing a third order for packing machinery from a very large and diverse chocolate candy and cereal manufacturer based in the West Indies.

The two earlier orders placed were for high speed Flowtronic 120 horizontal flow wrapping machines. This latest order is a very valuable one and it incorporates the HS Hot Melt Glue Former connected with a robotic DRT Toploader and the RA60 right angle lugless 3 flap lid closer and was won despite European competition from an existing incumbent.

These machines will be integrated by Bradman Lake, with connecting conveyors, to one of their previously supplied Flowtronic 120 wrappers. This will create a fully automated secondary packaging system; with common AB/Rockwell electric platform “no black box” software – open design, which will take wrapped candy bars from the Flowtronic 120 wrapper, glue form retail cartons from flat chipboard blanks, automatically collate and load the bars inside the carton base and then automatically close the carton lid cover with hot melt adhesive. Previously this customer had been manually erecting, loading and closing pre glued and creased cartons so the introduction of the new automated Bradman Lake system will generate significant labor and packaging materials cost savings plus boost production output from this packaging line.
